They are a group of 1864 islands lying between the USA and the Canadian borders along the river of St. Lawrence and the eastern shores of the Lake Ontario mainly between the province of Ontario in Canada and the state of New York in the USA.

- Wellesley Island State Park:
Wellesley Island State Park is the largest among the 30 state parks in the region that lies on the St. Lawrence River. It offers 429 campsites, golf course, marina area and many winter cabins.
- Robert Moses State Park:
Robert Moses State Park offers 169 campsites and 15 cabins.
- Cole Creek State Park:
Cole Creek State Park offers 235 campsites and is considered one of the most famous camping areas.
- Point au Roche State Park:
Point au Roche State Park has a lot of beautiful scenery especially the views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains, it is a great place for swimming, hiking, skiing, making picnics or enjoying boat launch.
- Cumberland Bay State Park:
It offers 152 campsites over an area of 2700 feet of beach on Lake Champlain.
Swimming, diving, fishing and watersports in the Thousands Islands:
Thousand Islands of USA are famous for a lot of water sports due to its strategic location on the river of St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario.
There are different locations for swimming in the Thousand Islands. There is a beach called Potter’s beach on Grindstone Island in the American region, which is a nice sandy beach and shallow with a gradual slope where swimming can be safe and extremely enjoyable. The gradual slope also helps to anchor small boats. Also the beach is very suitable for other activities like hiking on trails extending around the Grindstone Island.
Another place for enjoying swimming in the Thousand Islands is the Lake of the Isles; this lake is cut from the rest of St. Lawrence River by the Island of Wellesley near the Canadian Hill Island. The access to the lake can be through two narrow passages; one passage from the north east end of the island and the other passage is an international Rift leading to the north side of the island moving under the customs bridge. Tourists can also experience anchoring out of the wind in that lake.
Diving is considered one of the famous sports that can be carried out at the Thousand Islands. The waters there are considered as one of the best fresh waters in the world where people can experience fresh water diving. The wreaks in the waters are appealing to divers from all diving skills and levels so whether a person is at the beginner level or a professional and experienced diver; one can always enjoy the diving and witness a challenging experience.
A bay in the Thousand Islands that is known for enjoying fishing is called the Eel Bay which is located at the south west of the Wellesley Island. The bay looks like the Caribbean with its turquoise crystal clear water and sand bottom if you look at it from the air. It is an amazing location to practice fishing.
There are about 20 species of fish in the St. Lawrence River along with a variety of 65 of bait and rough fishes.

- Boldt Castle
This castle consists of 120 room mansion and it is located on the Heart Island across the shipping channel from the Alexandria Bay. The castle has been under renovation since 1977 and it is a testament of a man’s love for his wife. It consists of a main castle, a play house, a power house and a boat house. People can visit the Boldt castle either by tour cruise or by boat then walk upon arrival at the grounds surrounding the castle and also wedding ceremonies can be done there at the castle.
- Singer Castle
This castle exists on the Dark Island and it was renovated privately and open for tourists. The castle was constructed with a special design having hidden wine cellars and secret passage ways. Singer Castle is not as famous as Boldt’s castle; however it is an amazing touristic attraction in the Thousand Islands.
- The Antique Boat Museum:
This museum is located in the Clayton house and exhibits special antique wooden boats that were built or used in the islands region. At the museum, one can watch Boldt’s luxury house boat and also the museum exhibits the island’s region maritime culture.
